Advanced Ni tar reforming catalysts resistant to syngas impurities: Current knowledge, research gaps and future prospects

Catalytic reforming is a promising technology for the removal of tar from syngas. However, due to presence other impurities such as H2S, HCl, HBr, siloxanes, alkali metals, and NH3, lifetime, activity, stability commonly used Ni-based catalysts limited. This review investigates recent findings related poisoning effects both common under-researched syngas on nickel achievements in synthesis poison tolerant catalysts. The source content produced gasification different feedstock are examined. As current require further improvement ensure tolerance poisoning, two approaches catalytic gas products biomass/solid waste with without prior pre-treatment evaluated emphasize importance developing poison-tolerant deactivation mechanisms Ni by impurities, regeneration techniques, strategies reviewed. Finally, limitations processes future works discussed.
